Jack Kelly is a freshman this year after graduating from Ridge High School in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, and so far he has proved that he can go hard both on and off the ice.
On the ice, Kelly has been a solid all-around addition this season: previously a left wing for all 12 years that he has played hockey, he stepped up in a big way for Mason when the team needed more defensemen. Kelly says the switch to playing defense for the first time has been interesting, but he doesn’t mind the change. Outside the rink, he’s currently majoring in cyber security engineering, and is involved in the fraternity Kappa Alpha Order on campus.
Before making the GMU hockey team, Jack played for the Bridgewater Bears, New Jersey Penguins, and his high school team, the Ridge Red Devils. Jack was captain of his travel team all four years, and senior year, was named to the first team all-conference for NJ High School Boys Ice Hockey. Oh, and he also used to play lacrosse.
